With over 7 million tourists every year, the Colosseum is generally at the top of everyone’s travel itinerary. And without a doubt, this ancient amphitheatre is a must-visit when in Rome. Did you know that you can also visit the catacombs? Here you get to experience what went on behind the scenes during gladiator fights. This is a guided tour. After the visit to the underground passages, you can explore the rest of the Colosseum and the Forum Romanum (this is always included in the Colosseum ticket) on your own. Best is to book these tickets in advance as they sell out fast. Tickets with entrance to the catacombs are available one month in advance. After visiting the Colosseum several times, I can definitely recommend this as the best experience.
