Germany
Day 2: Exploring Mitte, the historical center of the city
Discover several of Berlin's main attractions in the neighbourhood of Mitte such as Museum Island, the Dome Church, Gendarmenmarkt Square, Checkpoint Charlie ...

Topographie des Terrors - Checkpoint Charlie - Gendarmenmarkt
Start the day with Topographie des Terrors, an outside documentation site about the Nazi regime. Next, go to Checkpoint Charlie, a former control post between West and East Berlin. Thereafter, go via Friedrichstraße to Gendarmenmarkt, a square with beautiful architecture, where you can find two impressive churches (a German and a French one) as well as a concert hall.

Schloßbrücke - Berliner Dom - Museumsinsel - Nikolaiviertel
Go via Schloßbrücke to Berliner Dom, a majestic cathedral. Next to this cathedral is a local art market, which is very nice! But pay attention: this art market is only open during the weekends (on maps it is called The Berlin Art Market by the Zeughaus). If you like musea, you could visit one of the musea on Museuminsel. Museuminsel is a small island in the Spree River which houses five museums. Finally, stroll through the streets of Nikolaiviertel where you can find cozy cobblestone streets around the church.

Hackesche Höfe
Hackesche Höfe is a complex of connected courtyards with boutiques, cafes and art exhibitions. Moreover, if you feel like shopping, the area of Hackesche Höfe is the place to be!

Dinner at Spindler
Have dinner at restaurant Spindler in the Kreuzberg neighborhood. This is the perfect opportunity to look around this area too! Spindler has a beautiful green garden terrace and is located by the river. The French-inspired cuisine is delicious and the ingredients used are of high quality. Although this restaurant was slightly more expensive, the food was great and well worth it! We ended the evening with a walk through the area and a closing drink at one of the cozy terraces along the street.
