Admire the famous Seceda viewpoint
Another must-do when you're near the Bolzano area in the Dolomites is to admire the Seceda peaks from up close, which are with their 2.500 meters the highest vantage point in the Val Gardena region.
Take the Ortisei-Furnes cable car
Drive up a scenic route through the mountains to the center of Ortisei where you will find a cable car that takes you straight up to the Seceda summit. A round trip ticket costs €38, but make sure to bring your DolomitiCard if you have one, as this grants you a free one-way ticket. If you have enough time (and energy), there is also a walking trail to the top.
Take in the breathtaking views
Right at the top of the Ortisei cable car, you are rewarded with stunning views of almost all of South Tyrol, as well as with the famous Seceda peaks, of course. It only takes about 15 minutes of walking a very accessible trail to admire the peaks up close. For those who'd like to do some more hiking, there are plenty of other hiking trails departing from this summit as well. Our favorite way to enjoy this natural gem was to bring a picknick and simply take it all in.
