Combining a walk in the beautiful nature of Catalonia with a touch of culture? That is possible during a walk through the Vall de Boí, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Catalan Pyrenees. The valley is home to several Romanesque churches (UNESCO World Heritage) known for their well-preserved architecture, paintings, and sculptures, and are among the best-preserved examples in Europe.
We walked part of the "Ruta del Romànic" that connects the villages of the Vall de Boí and passes by all the Romanesque churches and chapels. We started our walk in Boí and continued on to Taüll, where we visited the churches of Santa Maria and Sant Climent.
The latter is the most impressive of the valley. The church stands free of surrounding buildings, allowing you to fully admire the structure, with the mountain landscape as the perfect backdrop. Inside that church, you can enjoy a 3D spectacle with music for just five euros. An impressive projection shows what the church originally looked like.
This experience is part of the Grand Tour of Catalonia, part 3.
