Morning
Medicine Lake, Canada

Start the day at Medicine Lake

On the way to Maligne Lake, you'll pass by Medicine Lake. This lake is a geological wonder known for its mysterious disappearing act thanks to an underground drainage system. Keep an eye out for wildlife - elk, deer, and even bears have been spotted here.

Maligne Lake, Canada

Maligne Lake: a turquoise gem

This glacier-fed lake is the second-largest of its kind in the world and an absolute showstopper. Spend the morning hiking the lakeside trails or hop on a boat tour to Spirit Island, one of the most photographed spots in the Canadian Rockies.

Edith Cavell Trail, Canada

Hiking Mount Edith Cavell

You can choose from two hiking trails that both start at the end of Cavell Road. Glacier Trail is an easy 1,2 kilometres return hike that leads to the turquoise Cavell Pond and offers a close-up view of Angel Glacier. Cavell Meadows Trail is a moderately steep trail of 7 kilometres that leads through a forest to a lush alpine meadow and sweeping mountain views. I recommend combining the two trails, starting with the Glacier Trail. The entire loop is about 8-9 km, making it a solid half-day adventure. Pairing these trails gives you the best of both worlds: close-up glacier views and panoramic alpine beauty.
