Lace up your walking shoes as we will hit the longest and most difficult of all the day hikes around El Chaltén, today. To get the best views of the iconic peak of Fitz Roy and the surrounding glaciers, the Laguna De Los Tres trek is the trail you cannot miss.

Located in a quiet area, a 5 minute walk to all the restaurants/shops and close to the start of a lot of the hiking trails, you will find hosteria KooneK. The staff will do anything they could to make your stay as pleasant as possible. They will provide a lot of options for breakfast (early enough). So make sure to fill up your stomach before you hit the trails and even try to take some liquids and food along the way.
Within a short walking distance from the Hosteria, you will find the start of the trailheads for Laguna de Los Tres to Fitz Roy.

You can always choose to hire a guide, but even without any previous experience in the mountains, it is very easy to discover most of the places by yourself. There are also a couple of campsites along this trail that can help you break up the trip. If you start early enough, you'll have plenty of time to also finish this hike just in one day. The trailhead starts in town at the end of Avenida San Martín and end at the Laguna de Los Tres. The total distance of this hike is 26 kilometers and will take you around 8 to 10 hours. But, standing at the Laguna De Los Tres with the most stunning view of Fitz Roy makes it all worth it. For the best view, make sure to go all the way down to the lagoon and take a look at the mound on the left where you will get views of Laguna Sucia as well.
