Visit Chichén Itzá
° Be early to be ahead of the buses with tourists coming from Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. ° Chichén Itzá is more than the pyramid of Kukulkán. Wander around and be amazed by what Maya were capable of building and how they were living. You don't really need a guide if you have some written information with you (i.e., guiding book). Prepare to wander around at least 1 hour.

Cool down in cenotes
There are over 1000 cenotes (i.e., a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting when a collapse of limestone bedrock exposes groundwater) in Yucatán, so many options to choose from. ° Visit at least 1 open cenote and 1 closed cenote Closed cenotes are really like caves. Open cenotes are where the ceiling of the cave has completely collapsed making the cenote totally exposed. ° Cool down, literally, because the water is cold. ° Fun fact Fish are living in the cenotes, so you might want to take your snorkeling gear. We mainly saw black fish. ° Cenote Ik Kil (open cenote) is closest to Chichén Itzá and therefore one of the most popular ones. For us, this was the least fun/pretty one, because we had a 'Centerparks' feeling. ° Cenote X'Kekén (also called Dzitnup) is a closed cenote. We really liked this one.
