South Africa
Cape of Good Hope & Boulder's Beach
A daytrip from Cape Town to the southern tip of South Africa, followed by a visit at the penguins at Boulders Beach.

Cape of Good hope
The Cape of Good Hope is known as the most Southern point in the African Continent. But don't be mistaken, the actual southernmost point of Africa is at Cape Agulhas, located on the Garden Route. The Cape of Good Hope is located 70 km away from Cape Town. So by car, it will only take you an hour and a half to drive here from the city. It's always a good idea to drive by Chapman's Peak for another great scenery. When you arrive at the Cape of Good Hope, you will find a paved path along the coastline with several long stone staircases. This route will give you the best views of the coastline. From the car park is also a paved path all way to the top. Be prepared for a steady climb. So for those who don’t feel like hoofing it to the top, there is a funicular that will get you to the viewpoint as well. Furthermore, this place is also a great spot for whale watching during the months of June to November.
On your way back to Cape Town, make a stop at Boulders Beach.

Penguins at Boulders Beach
Before traveling to South Africa, there's a big chance you have already heard of / or seen pictures of all the penguins in Cape Town. This famous penguin beach in Cape Town is actually called Boulders Beach and it is located just outside of Simon’s town. Also not very far from Cape Town. It is a beautiful beach that has a lot of massive granite boulders even in the water. That’s exactly how the Boulders Beach got its name. Although Boulders Beach has much more to offer, the highlight here would be the colony of African penguins that you can find. There are two main places/beaches where to find the penguins. Between these beaches, there's a long wooden boardwalk. Boulders Beach is where you view the penguins from a deck, and Foxy Beach is where you can enter the water with the penguins. I would definitely recommend finding Foxy Beach to have the 'real experience'. Walking on the boardwalk at Boulders Beach is the same feeling as watching penguins at the ZOO.
