Sri Lanka
Dambulla & Sigiriya (3 nights)
Back on the road for the next destination: Dambulla & Sigiriya. I absolutely loved my time here and wish I even spent more.

Dambulla
Take the stairs and visit Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, which is Unesco World Heritage. It dates back to the 1st century BCE. Make sure to watch out for the monkeys!

Pidurangala Rock
I did this short hike for sunrise which was absolutely a great experience. Unfortunately, it was very cloudy but that didn't make it any less worth it. You'll have a great view on the Lion's Rock.

Roy's Villa Sigiriya
Without a doubt the best place I've stayed in in Sri Lanka. I loved everything about it, but most of all the people that I've met. I stayed in a private room, but I actually regret this because the dorm rooms are great too with a lot of privacy - yes, even when you're sleeping with total strangers in the same room. Roy organizes a lot of activities and almost everyone staying at Roy's Villa will join them, it's great! We went to a hidden lake for a swim, hiked Pidurangala Rock at sunrise, did a cooking class, visited a local buddhist temple with great views at the top, and we made our own coconut-bowl. Every evening there's a shared dinner that you can join with all the other guests. Finish it with a shot of Araq!
