Waipio Valley and the Kalopa Park
Drive past the Waipio Lookout point on your way to Kalopa State Recreation Area for a beautiful walk among ancient trees and chirping birds.

Waipio Lookout Point
Located along the Hamakua Coast on the northeastern coast of the Big Island of Hawai'i, Waipi'o Valley is the largest and southernmost of the seven valleys on the windward side of the Kohala Mountains. Since 2022, the Waipio Valley Road is closed for visitors as a precautionary safety measure. You'll have to do with the lookout point on the valley, which is also worthwhile.

Hike in the Kalopa Area
Kalopa is a paradise for plant lovers, featuring a diverse collection of native and exotic flora. Wander through the well-maintained trails surrounded by towering trees, vibrant flowers, and the soothing sounds of nature. You can choose between several hikes - short ones and longer ones with more height gain. We chose a leisurely stroll past the ancient trees.
