During a cycling tour through Serekunda, we had the chance to witness the daily life of the Gambian people up close. 🚲 The ride led us through bustling streets filled with market stalls, cars, motorbikes, and pedestrians, all blending into an urban rhythm. Every now and then, we passed a majestic Baobab tree—iconic to this region. The fresh green leaves signaled that the rainy season was on its way. Our guide led us along Old Cape Road, where we got a glimpse of the mangroves. Since it was low tide, we were lucky (and a little shocked) to spot a crocodile basking in the sun, thankfully from a safe distance! 🐊 We continued our ride and arrived at Bakau Fish Market, one of the many local fishing markets in The Gambia. 🐟 The sights, sounds, and smells made it a unique and lively stop. Then our guide asked if we would like to visit a local school and of course we said yes! We were warmly welcomed by the teacher and headmaster and even had the chance to sit in on a lesson. The children were full of energy, singing their lessons aloud with big smiles. 📚 - Tip: take your direct flight from Brussels to Banjul -
