Calanque de Port Pin, Vaufrèges, Marseille, France

From col to calanque

The first kilometers of this stage will make you go up and down, up and down and then up and down again. It goes from one peak to another calanque at sea level, so be prepared to climb and descend a lot. It is always worthwhile though. Enjoy the calanque de Port Pin and the Vallon d'en Veau, and especially views on La Candelle, which you will be able to see almost the entirety of the rest of the trip.

La Grande Candelle and Mont Puget

When you reach La Candelle, your over halfway this stage. Don't forget to smell the fresh mountain thyme and enjoy the wonderful views over the calanques. The effort is rewarded in clear weather with a 180-degree view over the entire coast: In the east, the reddish cliffs of Cap Canaille are visible, right behind it rises the silhouette of Cap Sicié (near Toulon). The eye-catcher in the west is Cap Morgiou with the calanque of the same name. This is where we'll be heading tomorrow. The end is near when you reach the final yellow marked road to Les Baumettes, a tiny strip with houses leading up to the city of Marseille. Don't get too exited though, we're not yet finished.
