An afternoon in the Park Abbey

That afternoon, we visited one of the most preserved abbeys in Belgium. It is an architectural and religious place steeped in history. The park's Abbey was founded in 1129 by the Duke of Brabant. It has become an economic and spiritual center in Leuven. Now, it contains the Parc Abbey, the Parcum Museum, the Church and its cemetery. And more widely, it is possible to walk there since there are several walks around and inside the estate. You will also find a small supermarket there as well as many other proposed projects. We started our visit with the Parcum Museum which offered an exhibition “Ectasy and Orewoet”. She allowed us to go up to the attics and enjoy the interior view of this incredible building. We did this visit with audio guides which allowed us to better understand the works. We continued our visit to the Abbey which begins with a magnificent corridor opening onto a small interior garden. There are several magnificent pieces in their old charm. It is a magnificent visit full of history, spirituality and calm. And it’s an architecturally incredible place. We finished our visit with the Church which contains chairs dating from 1600-1700. I found it amazing how everything was kept intact. We didn't have time to explore the cemetery as well as the parks and walks around it. But I advise you to go there because it looks magnificent. The total area is 42 hectares so there is really enough to have a pleasant time.
