Check-in at Hotel Musse Ginza Meitetsu
It was quite the research to find the best area to stay in Tokyo. So let me spare yours: try & find a hotel in the Ginza or Shimbashi neighbourhoods. Close to several subway stations, that easily take you to the best sights in town. Both of these areas have a nice mix between tradition & modern life (Ginza is a business area), so you can soak in real Tokyo here. I went for Hotel Musse Ginza Meitetsu: okay price, okay rooms, but mainly a great location. Please note that unfortunately rooms are usually very small in Tokyo, for quite a high price. This one was about €200 per night (booked well in advance). Nice add-ons: there’s a 7/11 (snack supermarket) at the lower floor 🙌🏼

Head to Shibuya Crossing
I decided to start my holiday by walking towards the famous Shibuya crossing: the busiest crossroad in the world. I walked about 40’ until grabbing a subway to the crossing, and that let me to beautiful first sights of Tokyo. Busy roads combined with peaceful, green areas where business men enjoyed their lunch. Once arrived at the crossing, take in the vibe! Walk up and down a few times and pinch yourself: you’re in f*ng TOKYO 🤩

The city from above: Shibuya Sky
Right next to the crossing, you can go up a huge building to admire Tokyo from above: Shibuya Sky. It’s quite new & very popular, so you should book tickets way in advance. Even if you’re not a planner: try to do so, it’s worth it.

Dinner at Omoide Yokocho
Omoide Yokocho are several small streets filled with tons of tiny restaurants in Shinjuku, the busiest area of Tokyo at night. Perfect place to go for a local dinner. It’s hard to choose a restaurant here, yet I found the perfect one for you: Sasamoto! Veeeery local but mostly veeeery tasty. You’ll be served a selection of meat skewers while sitting across the chef. Afterwards I found out that Belgian Michelin-starred chef Sergio Herman recommends this place too 👌🏼 Great minds… 😉

Drinks at Golden Gai
From here, you can easily walk to the Golden Gai area: small streets filled with bars to have a drink. Most of the bars only fit around 5-7 people, so it’s the perfect place to socialize.
