Madeira is a beautiful island and of course you want to see as much of it as possible while you are there. Unfortunately, you can't always get everywhere by public transport. Therefore, transport costs (especially as a solo traveler) can add up. On the other hand, food and accommodation in Madeira are relatively cheap.
In total, I spent € 680 for 9 days. I stayed in a hostel, but I often went out to eat and did some expensive activities. Here’s how my expenses are divided:
🛏️ Accommodation: € 189 – € 21 per night (29 Madeira Hostel)
🥘 Restaurants: € 200 – € 22.2 per day
🛒 Groceries: € 42 – € 4.7 per day
🐬 Activities: € 143 – € 15.9 per day
🚌 Buses: € 41 – € 4.5 per day
🚕 Taxi: € 30 – € 3.3 per day
🛍 Other: € 35 – € 3.9 per day
That comes to over € 75 per day (excluding flight tickets). For a European destination, I don't find this expensive!
