Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

The Avatar mountains

Activity

€ 50 - 100

Welcome to Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China – where surreal landscapes and floating mountains inspired the iconic film, Avatar. Planning a trip to the famous Avatar Mountains? You've got options! While going solo is doable, it's not recommended if you don't speak Chinese or if it's your first time in China. Instead, consider booking a tour online or following our lead by booking a hotel that offers guided assistance. Our hotel took care of everything, from tickets to taxis, and even helped plan our daily itineraries. The National Park is vast, and despite reading numerous blogs, I found myself none the wiser – it's a jungle out there! We opted for budget accommodation inside the park – the Zhangjiajie YOLO Retreat. While the price was a steal, the standout feature was the incredible staff and mouthwatering food. However, the downside was the less comfy bed and the bathroom hygiene could use some improvement. But hey, if you're looking to save some cash, it's a decent option. Nestled in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, with the iconic Avatar Mountains, it's a time-saver, eliminating daily park commutes. The park is divided into three main sections: Zhangjiajie Forest Park (a must-visit), Tianmen Mountain, and Wuling Scenic Area (featuring attractions like the glass bridge, zipline, canyon, and boat rides). Each section has its own entrance fee, with discounts available for visitors over 60. Tip: Consider changing hotels when exploring different parts of the park.
