If you’ve seen any photos of Nusa Penida, chances are you’ve spotted the famous Kelingking Beach with its cliffs forming the shape of a T-Rex. It’s not just a quirky rock formation, this viewpoint is easily one of the most incredible sights in Indonesia. Standing at the top, looking down at the cliffs plunging into the ocean, the scale of Kelingking really is overwhelming. It truly does feel like staring at a T-Rex’s open mouth, ready to chomp. And, believe us, it’s even more breathtaking in person than any Instagram shot can capture! The view from here reminds us a bit of Zakynthos’s Shipwreck Beach, but with a tropical twist. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can hike down to the beach. Fair warning: this isn’t a casual stroll. If you decide to go hiking, then we recommend you pack light, bring plenty of water, wear proper shoes, and aim to start early or later in the afternoon to avoid the midday sun. And don’t forget, it’s a pretty steep climb back up! If hiking isn't for you, don't worry, the views from the top are more than enough reason to visit. You can grab a coconut from one of the local stalls or even have a full dinner here! Yes, we say dinner, because we think sunset is the absolute best time to visit Kelingking. You’ll see Kelingking in a whole new light, and we guarantee it’s pure magic. Oh how the sunlight shines on that majestic rock.
