Safari at a private Reserve

Before heading to the famous Kruger Park, try to book a safari gamedrive at a private Reserve. Besides being less touristic, the biggest advantage of private game lodges is that the vehicles can go off road to get closer to the animals, or to track specific animals.

Check in at Rukiya Safari Camp

Located east of the Panorama Route, Krugerpark is considered as one of the most scenic and popular destinations in South Africa. Instead of immediately driving to this National Park, head towards Hoedspruit first. Here you will find 'Rukiya Safari Camp'. A perfect place for glamping with some guided Gamedrives. It is definitely recommended to spend atleast 2 days here.

Sunrise Game Drive

Wake up at 5am, grab a coffee and be ready to leave at 5.30am with your guide. Early morning game drives can be chilly, especially during the cooler months of the year (May to October), so make sure to pack enough warm clothing, such as scarfs, beanies, and jackets. A bush breakfast on the edge of the river is included in the morning activity, and roughly 3 - 5 hours are spent on this drive.

Relax at the campsite

Between the two gamedrives (sunrise and sunset), you have some time to enjoy the beautiful facilities at the Rukiya Campsite. There is a large swimming pool sprawled out between the tented chalets and the main lounge and dining area. Sun lounges offer the perfect place to relax in the dappled shade with the view of the riverbank ahead. If you're lucky enough, there might be a chance to spot some wildlife at the campsite itself.

Sunset Game Drive

Around 4pm, get everything ready for another gamedrive. You'll be going to another reserve, to spot other wildlife, but it won't be in a Big-Five area. Herefore you have to visit the Krugerpark, for example. But, there's a small chance you'll spot a leopard in their private area. After this afternoon gamedrive, the guide will make a stop at the perfect spot to enjoy a magnificent sunset with some drinks. It's the best way to end this beautiful day. Afterwards, you'll be heading back to the campsite, to enjoy a spectacular dinner at the campsite.
