Panoramic views and trendy hotspots
On your first day, you’ll enjoy amazing panoramic views and delicious (local) food. Near the end of the day, we let you discover budget-friendly drinks in an inexplicably cool and vibrant atmosphere, but more on that later ;-).

Breakfast at Best Bagel Basilica
Start your day with some amazing bagels at Best Bagel Basilica. Their terrace boasts a stunning view of the basilica, making it the perfect place to start your Budapest adventure! With as many as 15 bagels to choose from, including options like avocado, salmon, and salami, you're sure to find one (or multiple) you like! There are only a handful of tables available on the terrace, so if you want to make sure you get a seat, arrive at opening time (8.30AM).
Climb to the top of St. Stephen’s Basilica
You've already been able to admire the exterior of St. Stephen's Basilica, now it's time to climb up ;-). Once you reach the top, you will be able to enjoy an incredible panoramic view of Budapest. Definitely worth the 364 steps if you ask us! Not in the mood for that many steps? No worries, you can also take the elevator ;-). Tickets to the panoramic terrace cost about € 8,5 per person and can be bought from the ticket office on the right side of the Basilica, across the street.
Hopefully you're not too tired from all those stairs, because it's time for a 15-minute walk to your next destination ;-).
Visit the Dohány Street Synagogue
In the Jewish Quarter you’ll find the Dohány Street Synagogue. This architectural gem is the largest synagogue in Europe and the second largest one in the world. Just passing by here, or having a coffee in one of the taverns across the street, is already impressive. You literally will not know where to look first, the attention to detail in the ornaments is incredible! Good to know: visiting the interior requires booking a guided tour, which costs about € 24.
Your next destination is also in the Jewish Quarter, a 5-minute walk away.
Try some local specialties at Karaván
A visit to Budapest is not complete without trying some local specialties, and Karaván is the perfect spot for this. This outdoor food court offers a wide range of both Hungarian and international street food options. Whether you’re in the mood for traditional Hungarian favorites like Lángos and Goulash or international dishes like burgers and nachos, Karaván has it all. It’s a trendy place where you can relax and enjoy good food and drinks ;-).
End your day with some drinks at Szimpla Kert
On the same street as Karaván, you’ll come across Szimpla Kert, Budapest’s original ruin bar. Here you can enjoy budget-friendly drinks in an inexplicably cool and vibrant atmosphere. Be sure to have a look before ordering anything, as there are several rooms and bars where you can have a drink!
