Visiting Burg Eltz

Have you ever dreamt of visiting a castle that's located in the middle of the woods? Well, go to 'Burg Eltz'. From Hasselt (Belgium) it's only a two hour drive, so it's perfect doable as a daytrip. Make sure to stay till sunset, it's another experience when being there. Once you arrive at the castle there is this huge parking spot for only 4 euro/day. Then you've got two options to get to the castle: by foot or by shuttle bus. If you choose the option to go for a walk, you'll be walking a very beautiful route located in the woods. It only takes 15-20 minutes to get from the parking to the castle. If you choose to take the shuttle bus, it's only 3 minutes by bus but you will have to pay another 2 euro to hop on. The first glimp you get when seeing the castle gives you goosebumps! It really feels like you're in a fairy tale at that moment. We chose to take another path and do a quick picnic while having a view of Burg Eltz. When it got less crowded we decided to enter the castle (14euro per adult). A large part of the castle is still inhabited by the owners. The courtyard is really beautiful. You can walk into the treasury room, but also take a tour of about less than an hour. You will see bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, social areas and so on. The tour is included in the 14 euro entrance fee. Furthermore, there are possibilities to have brunch/lunch or to grab a coffee/coca cola/... . The terraces have an exceptional view :) A fun (and handy) fact: the toilets are free!
