Rainbow Falls, Hilo, United States

Waterfall 1: Rainbow Falls

Rainbow Falls: probably the number two waterfalls you have to see while you’re visiting Hawaii, after Akaka Falls. The special thing about Rainbow Falls is that if you visit in the morning, you might get to see a rainbow reflected in the waterfall! If you’re planning a day of chasing waterfalls in Hilo, I highly recommend starting at Rainbow Falls and then continuing to Akaka. A great place to start, where you don't even need to hike to.

Waterfall 2: Akaka falls

Akaka Falls is easily the most famous waterfall on the island, easy to reach but also the most touristy. Plummeting 129 meters, you can actually see this waterfall as you approach from the parking lot. You’ll walk about half a mile if you decide to take the “recommended” path, passing by the less impressive Kahuna Falls en route.

Pitstop at the botanical garden of Hilo

Usually, you have to pay an entrance fee at the botanical garden, unless you bring some folders from the nearest city center about the botanical garden. You might get in free. The flowers, plants, trees and animals are truly beautiful. Take your time to stroll around.

Waterfall 3: Umauma Waterfall

This waterfall resides in the Botanical Garden so there's the admission price to tour the garden, which included the falls. You can also book the Umauma Zipline Experience if you fancy a zipline now and again.
