5-day sailing trip to paradise: the San Blas Islands in Panama

Activity

€ 500 - 1.000

When considering a trip to Panama, you’ve undoubtedly heard about the San Blas Islands. While you can explore them through a day tour, believe me when I say there’s an even more beautiful and authentic way to experience them: a sailing trip! ⛵️ We chose to book this sailing trip through Blue Sailing, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone! It was the time of our lives. It will cost you around €600-750 per person (includes the trip, 3 meals per day, immigration for Panama). You can do this trip in two directions: from Cartagena (Colombia) to Panama or vice versa. I recommend the first option, as you sail with the current, making it smoother and more comfortable. In the first part of the journey, you sail from Cartagena for about 37-40 hours on open sea—an unforgettable and unique experience! The crew provides delicious meals, and you’ll have time to bond with your fellow travelers. After these 37-40 hours, you’ll arrive at the San Blas Islands, where part two of the journey begins: three days of pure enjoyment in the magic of San Blas! Picture perfect white beaches, palm trees, crystal-clear blue waters with beautiful fish and dolphins, no tourists, and no Wi-Fi. Another significant advantage of this trip is that you visit islands farther from the mainland, making them even more untouched. The islands are home only to the local Kuna people, who happily sell their freshly caught fish or lobsters, lovingly prepared by the ship’s cook. Thanks to their years of experience, the crew has built great relationships with many of these Kuna locals, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. On the final evening, we were treated to a feast and an amazing bonfire on one of the islands—a truly unforgettable experience during my travels! Don’t pass this up—go for it! Don’t let seasickness hold you back; there’s excellent medication available in Cartagena (Dramamine) that will get you through the first 37 hours!
