Contrary to what the name suggests, Klein Schietveld in Brasschaat is anything but small. This gigantic piece of nature, nearly 900 hectares, is a rarity in Flanders. Put on your hiking shoes for a refreshing walk (7.7 km) in this military domain. Along your route, you will find, among other things, the anti-tank ditch and the fort of Brasschaat. The walk starts at the eco-parking near the military airfield. You follow these hiking junctions: 61 – 60 – 86 – 87 – 1 – 3 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 63 – 61.
Spotting airplanes at Motorvliegclub Brasschaat
It's high time to relax after your walk! Book a table in the clubhouse of Motorvliegclub Brasschaat. From the terrace, you have a view of the airport. Treat yourself to a nice local beer with a tasty portion of finger food.
Walk to the mini-museum Den Toren on Licht Vliegwezenlaan (500 meters).

In the mini-museum ‘Den Toren’ – located in the former control tower – you will learn all about the fascinating military past of Klein Schietveld. You also get a beautiful view of the airport on top of that! More a fan of heavy artillery?
