Negombo (2 nights)
Sri Lanka was my first solo backpacking trip and I would definitely recommend it! Before going to Sri Lanka I was planning my trip and came across several blogs that suggested staying in Negombo when arriving in Sri Lanka. Negombo is a smaller town located near the airport and it's a good place to rest a little before starting your trip. I arrived at night so I spent 1 full day in Negombo (2 nights). I went to the beach, had my first curry and enjoyed some really good Kottu. This is a typical Sri Lankan dish made out of shredded roti with vegetables. I absolutely love it!
Negombo Beach
Have a walk on the beach, enjoy the sunset, have a pineapple juice.

funny because it has no sea view, but the curry was good!
Serendib Hotel
The room was very spacious and clean and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is located in a back alley so if you're not comfortable walking in the dark alone, I would not recommend it. However, you can also take a tuktuk. The view when enjoying your breakfast is great!
