Hiriketiya Beach, Sri Lanka

Surf's up at Hiriketiya Beach

Hiriketiya beach is a small bay with a vibrant atmosphere. It has some cozy restaurants and bars, it's a great plac to surf or to learn how to surf and you can get a relaxing massage - which I highly recommend especially if you're surfing. Surf: Want to learn how to surf? Get in touch with Lucky via Instagram to book your lessons: @hiriketiya_lucky_surf_school Drinks: Enjoy some cocktails at Sunset Bar Hiriketiya Beach with the best sea view. If you go in the evening you'll see the best surfers catching waves during sunset. Food: Do you want to enjoy some fancy food? Enjoy dinner at Dots Bay House or The Backyard. If you like it more local, go to Hiriketiya Seafood Restaurant for great fish. Stay: I spent 4 nights in a private room at Barefoot Backpackers Hostel Hiriketiya. It's a nice place to stay, the room was very spacious and I had a pink bathroom which I absolutely loved! The host organizes activities every evening in which you can participate if you want to. The vibe was good, people and staff were friendly, however I felt a little disconnected at times. People that stay here are often quite young so if you like to go to parties and get drunk, you'll probably love it here more then I did. :)

Tangalle Beach, Tangalle, Sri Lanka

Hop on a scooter and discover Tangalle

Rent a scooter and drive down to Tangalle to discover more amazing beaches such as Silent Beach and Goyambokka Beach. On your way to Tangalle stop at Moon River Sea Food Restaurant in Unakuruwa. It's a very small, local restaurant right on the beach where you can enjoy some of the freshest fish you'll ever had.
